5 DAYS 4 NIGHTS WILDLIFE OF BORNEO
Day 1 : Orang Utan, Night Bamboo Rafting Safari
Breakfast in the hotel, 0800, pick up for the Orang Utan visit at SEMENGGOH NATURE RESERVE, traveling overland (40 min) followed by a brief hike through dipterocarp forest. Unlike in a Zoo, the Orang Utans are set free in a 653-hectare forest reserve. Here, young Orang Utans, who were either orphaned or rescued from captivity, are trained to survive in the wild. The Sanctuary is not set up as a tourist attraction but visitors are most welcome.

Upon arrival at the nature reserve, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the Orangutans during their feeding time. Spot their delicate nests, watch their skillful movements at the treetops, and also their interesting behavior during feeding time. The guide will also narrate to you the behavior, emotion, and characteristics of this special primate called Orang Utan, meaning “Man of the Forest”.
Proceed to Peraya village for a night rafting safari. Traditional lunch will be prepared by the Bidayuh tribe which was notable for making use of bamboo for life. Take a short trek through customary tribal lands where century-old trees still stand tall, on nowadays unused ‘escape routes’ to the site of an ancient Pangah (head house) where the skulls of the ‘enemy’ or ‘protectors’ of the longhouse lie amongst the ruins of this ancient, long abandoned but not forgotten longhouse.

End the trekking at the waterfall before returning back to Perayahomestay for a night bamboo rafting safari. Dinner, start the rafting at 0730 down in search of the nocturnal animals, spotted a few species of frogs and toads, birds, snakes, and spiders. The Bidayuh tribe will show you their skillful night spotting of the animals. Walk back to Perayahomestay Lodge for overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 2: Bako National Park
Breakfast, at 0800, transfer to Bako village, and take a boat ride to BAKO NATIONAL PARK. Bako National Park, established in 1957, is the oldest and one of the most popular national parks in Sarawak. Situated about 37 km from Kuching City, the excursion takes about one and a half hours by land and boat. With an area of about 2,728 hectares, it offers the perfect introduction to Sarawak’s forest and wildlife. Unlike the other parks, visitors to Bako National Park are almost guaranteed to see wildlife such as long-tailed macaques, squirrels, white bearded pigs, silver leaf monkeys, etc. With 17 trails provided, ranging from 0.2 km to 5.75 km, you will almost find new experiences in each different trail.
You will be brought along the Teluk Paku trail. To spot the Proboscis monkey, species, which only can be found in Borneo Island, you will need to walk slowly, keep as quiet as possible, and listen out for sounds and movement along the way. In Bako National Park, you will also be able to view 7 different types of vegetation and forests from almost desert-like scrub or “Padang” to lowland dipterocarp forest. Evening leisure, dinner, and deed with a night walk to the animal like Flying lemur and others. Overnight in the park chalet. ( B/L/D )

IMPORTANT
Our tours are graded from Easy, Mediocre to Strenuous. The following information is being compiled in a generalized manner. As such, you will focus and emphasize on the parts that involve you and the tours that you booked.
Strenuous
Any tour that involves consistency of 2 sets of trekking time of 4 hours each, we shall grade it as Strenuous. Some tours graded under Strenuous require us to start early either because we have to accomplish an 8-hour trek or to catch a glimpse of sunrise. We do plan some contingencies for some impossibility due to unforeseen circumstances although we suggest you get ready for the worse.
In our experience, it is our heat that pulls most trekkers down rather than the distance of the track. Water is the sole remedy to any long trek. Lack of water can cause diarrhea. Most trekkers thought that diarrhea is caused by contaminated water rather than the lack of it. Don’t bring your travel documents and valuables for overnight and/or trekking tours.
Things to Wear and Things to Bring
We highly recommend that you check our tour itinerary as thoroughly and as carefully as possible before making the booking. When booking our trekking tours, seek advice from your doctor about your health and fitness and request for the necessary medications to use during the tours. Sarawak is relatively free from major diseases but anti-malaria pills and iodine salt for excess sweating are useful if you are intending to cover our remote areas. The list below should give you a more comprehensive idea of what to wear and what to bring in order to enjoy all our tours better.
